Big D Beatdown #6: Youth MMA Returns August 30

The cage is calling! On August 30, young martial artists from across Texas will gather at Southern Junction Texas in Irving for Big D Beatdown #6—a youth-only, USAMMA-sanctioned MMA event where skill, discipline, and courage are put to the test in a safe, controlled environment.

Open to athletes ages 7 to 17, this event is more than just a competition—it’s a development opportunity built around respect, structure, and the core values of martial arts. With striking and grappling techniques featured across three 2-minute rounds, young fighters will experience the thrill of live competition while being supported by certified referees, trained coaches, and enthusiastic families.

Registration Deadlines

  • Normal Registration: Open until August 2 – $140

  • Late Registration: August 3 to August 23 – $160

Spots are filling fast, with 49 athletes already signed up and more expected in the coming weeks. Each athlete will receive one sanctioned MMA match, carefully assigned by USAMMA-licensed matchmakers to ensure fairness and safety.

Weigh-In Details:

  • Date: Saturday, August 30

  • Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Location: Southern Junction Texas, 101 N. Rogers Rd., Irving, TX 75061
Athletes must bring their gear (MMA gloves, shin guards, groin protection, mouthpiece), their active USAMMA license, and a signed event waiver. Only one parent or guardian will be allowed in the weigh-in area per athlete.

Match Rules & Safety Protocols

  • No head strikes

  • Limited contact (developmental league rules)

  • 3 rounds, 2 minutes each, 1-minute breaks

  • No official winners or losers per Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation

  • Certified USAMMA referees ensure every match meets safety and fairness standards

This event emphasizes development over domination. It’s not about the win—it’s about the growth, the discipline, and the honor that come with competition.

Support a Good Cause
Spectators are encouraged to make a donation—a portion of the proceeds go to Scottish Rite Hospitals. Whether you’re grabbing a general admission ticket or sponsoring a VIP table, your contribution supports both the athletes and a powerful cause.

Spectator Options:

  • Platinum ($500): VIP table for 6, cage-side

  • Gold ($450): Front-row ring-side table

  • Silver ($50): General Admission (kids under 5 are free)

Gear Up, Show Up, Level Up
Big D Beatdown #6 gives youth the space to grow as athletes and individuals. With a strong foundation in safety and support, every match becomes a stepping stone toward becoming a better martial artist.

Whether your child is stepping into the cage for the first time or looking to test what they’ve learned over the summer, this event is the perfect platform to showcase their progress and passion.
