Why This Tournament Matters for Kids
The Grappling Games aren't just another tournament—they’re a celebration of growth, discipline, and dedication. Over the summer, our students have been working hard to refine their technique, build endurance, and strengthen their mindset. This event is a chance for them to put those skills into action in a supportive, team-based setting.
As kids return to school, participating in structured, goal-oriented activities like this can help them transition more smoothly into the fall season. It reinforces focus, accountability, and perseverance—skills that go beyond the mats and into the classroom.
Match Format & Rules
Every match will be four minutes long and Gi-only. There are no points—submissions determine the winner. If no submission is made in regulation time, a one-minute overtime will be allowed. The first to achieve a takedown and maintain top control wins. If neither athlete secures a takedown, the referee will decide the winner based on performance.
Important Rules to Remember:
No slams, jumping guard, neck cranks, or leg/ankle/wrist locks
Nails must be trimmed; hair tied back; no jewelry
Unsportsmanlike conduct from students or parents will result in disqualification
The referee has the authority to stop the match at any time
This tournament is about respect, safety, and sportsmanship, and we ask all families to support our mission in upholding these values.
